What is distressed skin?
Our skin is like every other cell in our body - it get’s tired, damaged, stressed, lethargic, and needs energy to recover.
There are a couple of signs that can indicate your skin might be distressed;
Unable to retain moisture and hydration.
This is a big indicator that you have an impaired skin barrier, you might have TEWL (trans epidermal water loss) meaning your epidermis cannot maintain and hold hydration and is in a constant state of dehydration. This could stem from too much sun damage without assisted recovery, too much exfoliation - both physical and chemical exfoliation can impair the skin barrier, too many skin treatments that compromise your skin without proper recovery. Any treatment that removes the outer layers of your skin forcefully is going to compromise your skin barrier, damage causes damage.
damage causes damage
What do we mean by ‘damage’ - it’s a broad word, and could be applied to every day we walk outside, have sun on our skin, wear a chemical that we have a reaction to, have too much sugar in our diet. But when we talk about damage in relation to skin treatments, this is specifically anything that removes the outer layers of your skin without an assisted recovery treatment. Your skin therapies should follow a repair method of treating skin, this supports healthy ageing without compromising skin barrier, damaging cells or causing skin distress.
Things you can do to support distressed skin
Repairing your skin is not a quick fix, the cell renewal/natural desquamation process occurs every 60 days, in that time, your old cells are replaced by a cell with the memory of its previous one. That means that over the course of those 60 days, how we treat our skin - what we do to it, put on it, what we drink, eat and how much sleep we get all impact the appearance of our skin. Cellular memory doesn’t forget the weekend wine, sugar overload, excessive exfoliation or complete lack of. The Home Kit is the number one product we recommend for people suffering from distressed skin - it is a skin recovery tool that supports energetic movement of your cellular processes, so that over the course of those 60 days, you are at some point, stimulating and supporting the natural repair of your skin.
There is a major difference between supporting skin recovery, and damaging skin to invoke the need for recovery. Causing damage to our skin causes inflammation, the inflammatory response of skin increases systemic inflammatory responses which triggers our system to become inflamed. Skin health and healthy ageing relies on recovery, our skin is programmed to recover overnight - and that’s the best time to wear your matrix, apply skin nutrients, purposeful peptides that support skin functions, and repair skin.
Your Matrix is a simple step that takes less than a minute to apply, the natural response of your skin is to gravitate upwards, to where the gradients are present. This gravitation of sub-dermal fluids is exactly what your skin needs to support energetic skin as we age. Our skin behaves very differently in our 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond, at every major age milestone, we notice our muscles don’t hold as tightly, we aren’t as flexible, our metabolism slows, we can bruise or scar more easily, our skin doesn't wake up as glowy as it used to. Not without exercising, training, stretching, and skin training. While our cells don’t have the innate energy to perform as they did in our 20s we can support our skin to behave energetically, as with anything, training is key.
